Conwy
The most interesting thing about this town, besides the castle, is the river estuary that almost completely disappears every time the tide goes out. When I say the tide goes out, I mean that it really goes out. All of the boats tied along the edges fall over on their sides, laying there like stranded whales, until the tide comes back several hours later.
Conwy is a walled town, built to protect the residents from invading marauders. The castle was built by Edward I in the 13th century. No Welsh people were permitted to live within the walls. We spent an afternoon walking the walls, having fish & chips on the quay, and visiting the little shops that line the streets. A thoroughly enjoyable day.
