Koko Taylor was voted Best Traditional Female Artist, Best Traditional Album, and Best Song this last weekend at the Blues Music Awards. We had the privilege of finally seeing her last Saturday at the Metro Fountain Blues Festival in San Jose. I had seen everyone else on the line-up several times, but I waited to see her. She only sang four songs, but with zest. You probably know her most famous song, "Wang Dang Doodle (All Night Long)." After her set, she came down to the audience and shook my hand. I was so honored to have her, a true blues legend, come to me.
