Grateful Friday

Today it is February, the month of love. Also, it is not January, which was the snowiest month of January ever in Reno.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy—I usually don’t read heavy, grisly, apocalyptic books, but this is different. It made me think in ways that I haven’t for a long while.

My daughter called yesterday, excited because she met Tom Waits. He came in for dinner at the restaurant where she works. They have also had the CEO of Disney, and Dick Gebhardt recently.

It is Todd Snider/Nervous Wrecks wild weekend—a singing at the top of my lungs, dancing in the aisles, laughing with all my soul weekend.

************

As a side note to Music Lovers: This weekend Austin City Limits on PBS is featuring the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival this last year with performances by Emmylou Harris, Bruce Hornsby and others. Check your local listings. (Oh, and Etta James is next week).

Hi Cathy,
Michelle here. My mom Bobbie lives down the street from your mom in RC. In fact I used to babysit you a hundred years ago.
She sent me your blog because I am going to BM for the first time this year, yes a virgin. I am going with a couple of gals who have gone for the last 10 years or so, so I will have lots of help preparing. And I love to read so have been going over the site reading the prepare yourself tips. I live in Gardnerville, down the street from you.
So nice to see you again, and I really enjoy your blog and all your photos, you have such talent!

Welcome, Michelle~

Wow! How nice to hear from you. We are practically neighbors. Your family has been very supportive of my blog and I am very grateful for that. Glad to hear that you're going to BM. The anticipation of going is almost as much fun as actually going. Keep in touch.

Hey, Cathy ~

Oh, I am so envious of your Todd weekend, as I've been reading all the pre-show anticipatory postings - he comes to South Florida once a year (if that) and I missed him the last time because it was during my annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival trek!

Can't wait to hear/read stories, stories of the music and the people - have a blast and take lots of pictures... :-)

I am glad you liked the book cathy-
I don't usually like those types of books either, but there was just something about that one- I think it was the unconditional love that was underlining the story that really got me...
take care,
