Passionate Blues

Horseman’s is the best kept secret in the blues world. Look at those faces, passionate, determined, real. These two women know how to put on a SHOW!

Bettye LaVette, looking amazing at 61 years old, has been performing for over 40 years. She is either laughing or crying as she belts out her songs, sliding across the stage like a teenager. She’s just now becoming as famous as she deserves to be. She did a sellout tour of Europe last summer and here she was performing for us in a small rec room at a horse arena. The crowd was stunned and cheered and cheered for more.

The blonde Roach (yes, that’s her name) is a little powerhouse of energy. Her tight band, CafĂ© R& B, features her husband Bill on guitar. Since we’ve seen her a few times now, we know her set list, “I’m Walking,” “Snatch It Back,” and the mighty “Killin’ Floor” has her writhing around on the ground. Very dramatic.

Gives meaning to the phrase "Women Sing the Blues."
