A small surfing town on the Pacific side of
Baja California, Todos Santos is about an hour and a half from here. After driving across washboarded dirt roads, winding through the mountains, and crossing tiny towns, finally we spied lush tropical coolness near the beach.
We stopped in for lunch and a quick trip through the typical tourist shopping spots. The notorious Hotel California, the main attraction, is definitely a fascinating place, with exotic, colorful and wild décor in the bar and restaurant. The rooms and private gardens must be really special. I would love to stay there if it wasn’t right in the heart of the town with major traffic going by constantly. I suppose that in the early days it was something else.
North of town we found a surfer beach where Eddie could run the dogs. Cheri and I took photos and Brad stayed busy spotting whale spouts for us. Then everyone climbed back in the car for the drive home, tired and happy.
