We are staying here in a very small village on the
Sea of Cortez, called La Ventana (the window). Eddie and Cheri built their Casa Roja especially so Eddie can be here when the wind blows. He’s a windsurfing fool. I admire someone with so much passion for something he loves.
While he's on the water, Cheri spends her time crafting beautiful quilts. They kindly invited us to share their home and have been considerate in taking us around and showing us the sights. (Don't you wish you had wonderful friends like that?)
The town consists of a few casual resorts, one RV park, a few taco stands and teeny restaurants. Other than that, it is all locals. No stores, no gas stations, no Starbucks. This is not a place that has been discovered by the high priced tourist/real estate tycoons yet.
The upsides:
kind and generous hosts, warm sun, cool breezes, delightful guest quarters, small neat kitchen, large comfy bed, big windows, simple lifestyle, mellow sunsets, brilliant sunrises.
The downsides:
desolate landscape, little access to necessities, scorpions, hammering from construction site next door, brilliant sunrises in your eyes at 6AM.
Outstanding skyviews make me forget about the other stuff. Overall, a lovely place to rest and watch the day go by.
