How incredibly lucky we were to escape
Karen and I took in a movie, which is a treat for me, since I hardly ever get to go to the cinema to watch a real grown up movie. Notes on a Scandal stars Kate Blanchett as a young wife and mother who is an art teacher having an affair with her 15 year old student. But the focus of the story is Barbara, played by the brilliant Dame Judi Dench, who has an evil obsession with her too. Superb drama of the highest sort.
We explored Torrey Pines Golf Course and the State Park too, with sweeping views of the ocean. I was fascinated with the shapes of the limestone and the light hitting the cactus, making everyone wait while I took yet another angle of the same rock.
Next we stopped at the glider port, where I took over 300 photos of the paragliders with the light coming through the fabric creating spectacular images. Brad is determined to find out how to get a license to fly. He’s a pro with stunt kites and has always wanted to get his pilot’s license. This would combine those two things wonderfully.
I am so thankful for another chance to be outside somewhere different, seeing new things in new ways.
