We've been traveling north for the last few days and finally arrived in Chiang Mai, a cooler, cleaner and smaller city. Everyone is getting ready for the big Loy Kra Tong festival, a thank you to the water goddess after the monsoon season. We are very lucky to be here during the festivities. We lit laterns and sent them way high into the night sky.
Today was the highlight of the trip. The elephant rides and bamboo raft trip. I thought it was hilarious that our driver would keep saying, "Oh, my god," everytime we came to a tough situation, but when we came around a corner and there was another groups of elephants coming straight at us he yelled out, "Oh, my Buddha!" and drove our elephant into the river to avoid a collison.

The weather is actually quite lovely-warm, maybe 80 degrees. The bus driver was so cold he turned on the heat! The Thai people only like HOT weather. Don't bring much; you won't need it.
